Anzac Display the Library
Thanks
to our groundsman, Mr Phil Rutherford, Mackay West students received an
exciting talk about the history of Anzac Day, accompanied by a wonderful
display of military memorabilia. Students were able to learn what it was
like to be a soldier in the World Wars. Mr Rutherford dressed up
in the uniform of a World War1 soldier and Mrs Spillman was dressed in a
uniform from the Women’s Royal Australian Air Force (1970s).
We surveyed some students
from years 3 to7 to see what they liked best about this fantastic
display:
 |
Year 3
Abbey Blaik - The conditions that the soldiers slept in and the
uniforms they had to wear when battling. |
 |
Year 4/5P Ceah-May Rowe - I like
the uniforms the best. |
 |
Year 5
Michelle Marcum - The uniforms they wore when they were fighting. |
 |
Year 6
Chloe Bell - The uniforms they wore on the battlefront. |
 |
Year 7
Taylor Dunton - The guns and weapons, uniforms and badges. |
