Anzac Display the Library

Thanks to our groundsman, Mr Phil Rutherford, Mackay West students received an exciting talk about the history of Anzac Day, accompanied by a wonderful display of military memorabilia. Students were able to learn what it was like to be a soldier in the World Wars.  Mr Rutherford dressed up in the uniform of a World War1 soldier and Mrs Spillman was dressed in a uniform from the Women’s Royal Australian Air Force (1970s).

We surveyed some students from years 3 to7 to see what they liked best about this fantastic display:

Year 3         Abbey Blaik - The conditions that the soldiers slept in and the uniforms they had to wear when battling.

Year 4/5P   Ceah-May Rowe - I like the uniforms the best.

Year 5         Michelle Marcum - The uniforms they wore when they were fighting.

Year 6         Chloe Bell - The uniforms they wore on the battlefront.

Year 7        Taylor Dunton - The guns and weapons, uniforms and badges.
