This year's Mayfair was another success
which celebrated the culture of the Mackay West State School community.
A very large crowd of parents, staff, children and friends of the school
community enjoyed the many attractions and activities of the Fair.
On the school's behalf II wish to congratulate the
P and C Association and the Mayfair sub-committee for their successful
achievement of another high quality Mayfair, based on hard work,
co-operation and a willingness to provide the very best facilities for
the students of Mackay West. It is always dangerous to name
people, but it would be remiss of me not to mention Margie Harris and
Cathy Haines as leaders in the organising committee.
Many staff members also assisted and in particular
I wish to thank Phil Rutherford and Peter Le Page, our Janitor
Groundsmen, Lauren Menzies and Matt Johnston, our Instrumental Music
teachers, Maggie Hains and Leisa Foran for conducting the fantastic
Senior Choir. This year we were privileged to have a performance
by “Kicking Up Dust” led by our multi-talented and
energetic Physical Education teacher, Russell Holmes.
Thank-you also to the many volunteers, including
parents, staff and children for their hard work during preparations for
the event and, of course, throughout the day. It was also much
appreciated to see families come along to assist with the final clean-up
on Sunday morning so that facilities and grounds were ready for school
on Monday. It is actions such as these that support the tremendous
pride and family oriented culture of this school. Your efforts are
appreciated by the staff and children of the school. Thank-you to all
who attended and supported the P and C and students of this school.
