On Saturday, 20th
August four Mackay West teams participated in the Mackay & District Opti-minds
Challenge.
All teams are to be commended for their dedication and enthusiasm
over the past six weeks – participation in Opti-minds requires
children to give up lunch hours and their own time after school and on
weekends. This dedication has been well rewarded with all four teams
achieving excellent results.
Special
congratulations to Team 4 –
Thea Hadok-Quadrio, Joel Pattinson-Cashman, Sam Mayer, Brianna Quirk,
Megan Comben and Rachel
Wrench (Facilitator: Mrs
Brown) who won their division – Language and Literature.
They were invited to represent Mackay and District in Brisbane at
the Queensland Finals on Sunday 2 October and received HONOURS.
Team
2 – (Katie Clark, Daniel Willacy, Georgia Rosier, Jason Quetti and
Kyriah Willacy (Facilitators: Ms
Sammut, Mrs Malone, Mrs Russell) and Team
1 Olivia Attard, Emma Lynch, Aiden Templeton, Jacob Cavanagh,
Genevieve Richards, Nikki Hains and Natalie Gregg (Facilitators:
Miss Tass, Mrs Hains) were also entered in this division and
received Honours Award as did
Team 3 – (Samantha Gregg,
Coco Sands, Sylvia Doyle, Emily Arnold, Ryan Webb Eloise Orr and Emma
Newton (Facilitator: Mrs
Orr), who were entered in the Social Science division.
We are all very
proud of these teams members and congratulate them for their efforts.
Special thanks also to team facilitators for their dedication and
hard work. – Opti-minds participation is only possible when teachers
volunteer to facilitate teams.
