As for 2008, beautiful weather greeted us for our
Sports Day at the Senior Campus last Monday. A great day was
had
by all. Congratulations to students for their participation,
effort and great sportsmanship. I also noticed very good behaviour and
many examples of students being sensible with sun-safety.
I would like to thank all staff and parent
volunteers for their hard work for this day. In particular, our thanks
go to the following people for their very significant involvement in
various aspects of the carnival:
 |
Mr Holmes
(our PE Teacher in preparing the students).
Results from Sports Day will be provided in the first |
 |
Mrs
Muller (for the essential paperwork, program and communication to
staff). |
 |
Mr
Rutherford and Mr Le Page (for the preparation of our grounds). |
 |
Mrs
Teresa Gregor and the volunteers in the tuckshop (for ensuring
tasty food was available to all people attending). |
 |
Mrs
Leggatt, Mrs McClurg and Mrs Muller (for their meticulous record-keeping in the
tent). |
 |
Ms Janice
Quadrio and our P&C volunteers (for providing the popular tattoos
and stall). |
 |
Mr Andrew
Payne (for his clear and informative announcing).
|
 |
Thank-you
also to parents for ensuring children were proudly wearing their house
colours and appropriate decorations and adornments. It all added
to the atmosphere of fun and friendly competition.
|
Congratulations to all Houses on their effort and
participation. Many new records were set in both boys and girls
events and in all age groups. Students chosen to represent Mackay West
at the Southern Suburbs Carnival on Friday 17 July, Cathy Freeman Oval
at Slade Point, will receive notes in the near future. Best wishes to
these athletes in this next step of Track and Field events for the
district. Thank-you to all who contributed to this most enjoyable and
successful event for the children.
